With Taiwan’s recent shift towards a lay participation system (國民參審), the ability to litigate in court and explain legal positions to people without legal training is more important than ever. In this respect, jury trial techniques and skills from the US are highly valuable learning points. This course aims to replicate trial practice classes from US law schools, and will prepare students to become active jury trial litigators.
Each week, students will focus on one aspect of a jury trial. The midterm and final will both be mock trials, during which students are expected to showcase all the techniques they learned throughout the course.
